Magnificent Cinematic Storytelling There’s a visual purity about the new movie “Alpha” which isn’t seen much in motion pictures since Stanley Kubrick departed the scene in 1999. The movie looks almost as if it was produced in an airless and sterile environment, despite the characters’ sometimes smearing themselves with mud, paint, or another semi-solid liquid in preparation for a hunt or a ceremony. Excellent movie! I just saw this movie in theaters and loved it. I am surprised it does not seem to be getting a lot of recognition. The cinematography alone makes it worth watching, and every scene was beautiful to look at, making the whole movie really captivating to watch. I like the way it focuses mainly on Keda (the boy) and Alpha (the wolf), rather than having scenes jump from too many characters and lots of dialogue the way many movies do.
